How great is today - we had 3 play dates over at the same time yesterday (yes, 6 boys aged 6 - 11 years old) and 1 birthday party before that. Today I scheduled a blissful Nothing! Yeah! And today my DH took the boys and is doing some building, "amending" our wooden playset with the swings, slide and clubhouse. They want to make a fort for Nerf Gun shoot outs! Great, more orange spongy bullets all over the back yard...
So now I get to enjoy my coffee and scrap a bit. I thought that I wanted to create a page using a bunch of cut out pencils to line the bottom of my 4th grader's page but the thing about Locker Talk that bugs me is that the layers cut all at once so you have to cut the layer feature 4 times: once in pink, then black and gray and beige. I cheated and took the pink one and used it for both the eraser and the sharpened wood part and just used my chalks in Alabaster and Yellow Ochre to make it look more like a light wood color.
I cut Pencil2 at 3 1/2" and again at 2". Before I glued them down I used the chalks to add a smudginess to them with Toffee on the yellow and Charcoal on the gray and the pink eraser. I was amazed that a 3 1/2" cut out of the Pencil2 would be 8 1/2" long and the 2" one turned out to be 4 3/4" long!! I also cut a Pencil1 at 3 1/2" (it's the chubbier pencil).
The 4th Grade wording is cut at 4" and I used the Shadow feature for the orange background. I used the Charcoal chalk again for the blue and Toffee on the orange with a little Charcoal on the edges of the orange. The gray background paper (chalked on the edges in charcoal) is by Bazzill and I used my computer to print the First Day of School wording. The patterned paper is by Basic Grey, Acid Washed Dawson Collection which is not a current collection - also chalked in charcoal.
Hope you like it! Thanks for looking!
